Low Cottage was refurbished during 2012 with the assistance of a grant from the Sport England Inspired Facilities fund. It was formally opened by Nick Colton, a distinguished mountaineer and deputy chief executive officer of the BMC during the Low House Anniversary weekend, 2013. Members may book it through the Hon. Hut Booking Secretary. It has been refurbished to provide self-contained accommodation for six people in two bedrooms. The MAM hopes that it will be particularly popular with members who have not felt able to use the MAM's huts. These will include those with families and those who are less mobile or who need more privacy.
In introducing Nick Colton, the MAM President, Mick, thanked all those who had been involved in the work and those whose generosity had made the refurbishment possible. In particular he thanked B McD, C S, B W, A H and D S who had formed the working group at various times; the builder, Dave Sharp, and the joiner, Ian Usher, together with the many other Ushers; Sport England, for the Inspired Facilities grant and finally for members present and past whose legacies, gifts and loans had provided most of the necessary finance.
